My name is Michael Newby. I've been playing bass since middle school, joined College of the Siskiyous Jazz Band in 7th grade, and have played with them for 5 years. I then expanded and began playing for the Concert Band, and Jazz Choir programs at COS as well. I have a strong ability for Jazz Bass, as well as Rock. I can sightread very well, and have a moderate understanding of Music Theory. I'm new to the startup band aspect of things, but I have a strong base to build upon, and a decent resume of experience. I'm looking for a band that is strongly motivated to gig. I have a very free schedule, and I'm certainly dedicated enough to show and practice. Another skill I've honed and would love to use in any medium is singing bass. My last 2 years at the College of the Siskiyous consisted of me taking vocal training courses, and finally joining the Jazz Choir and Chamber Singers as a Bass Vocalist. My comfortable range sits at B2/C2 to F4/G4.
