Singer/songwriter Derrick Mears' music combines the influences of folk, rock, pop, country and bluegrass into a unique and original form of acoustic music. His songs cross genres and his voice and lyrical style has been compared to classic singer/songwriters such as James Taylor and Dan Fogelberg while merging the modern influences of artists such as Ryan Adams.
Recently his song "Monday Again" was the winner of the Summer edition of the Nashville International Song and Lyric Competition and his song "Right Here" was a semi-finalist in the Song of The Year competition.
He currently markets songs to publishers and Film/TV music supervisors and performs in local acoustic venues
