ABOUT

Best contact is my user name, dmcatavey, send to "G" mail address. I also use the same user name (dmcatavey) for my email with which is a dot net address all lower case letters.
I used to play with Sound Decision Band. from Seacoast NH//ME
Other bands include: Rock Bottom, Bird Dog Blue and a few jazz groups (playing swing, smooth jazz and show tunes.

The Audio clips are of me singing and playing drums

I am a strong lead singer, can also back up and find it easy to find a harmony part. I'm steady and simple on drums. Less is more, I play at a reasonable volume suitable for the event (you won't need to ask me to turn down) Also play Conga, Bongo's & assorted percussion. I read music. I'm easy going and look to add to the band by blending in so that the band as a whole is greater than the sum of the individual parts (hope you get my drift). I feel I always have more to learn from others and thus don't bring bad attitude or ego to the table.

Music is a bridge that spans generations, I've worked with younger musicians successfully but not really interested in loud Metal (sorry, it's my taste choice). If you are a proficient musician of any age you'll find I'm easy to work with. I'm a very good choice if you need a last minute fill in.

Thanks,

Look forward to meeting you!,

p/s: When recording I used my best cymbals (I have a lot of Zildjian cymbals) I used "K" dark crash, 16" and 18" with K ride and K/Z hi hats. The drums are all mahogany and sound sweet. The engineer at the studio (who has been around some of the best) commented on how nicely tuned and how beautifully rich the sound of the drums and cymbals were. The recording can only capture so much. Live, is the way to hear 'em

All that I've played with have been impressed with the quality sound. Still I'm a "less is more player" nothin' too fancy.
I enjoy a wide variety of genres. You can see from the recordings here that I sing a lot of classic rock. I do have an interest in swing and smooth jazz, American Song Book sorts of things. Note my Etta James cover, I could do this stuff all night!
Thanks for your interest!
Currently I am a dialysis patient awaiting a kidney transplant.
Dialysis limits my endurance and I am unable to play for long periods. 2 hour gigs in afternoon/early evening are ok and I'll consider those. My wait time for transplant is less than 2 years. Once I get transplant I'll consider up to 4 hour gigd.
Thank you...Dennis
