My name is Dominic Thompson Sr.. I was born September 9 1982, to Jaye and Natalie Thompson. My first time playing drums was at the New Beginning Highway Church of Christ. In 2001, I started working as a stagehand at Bill's Music House. As a stagehand, I assisted customers with the purchase of drum equipment, assembled drum displays and handled stock. I left Bill's Music House to become a Sales Associate at Guitar Center. While at Guitar Center, I also worked in the drum department assembling drum displays and making sales.
During that time I also played on my first live recording with Maureen Jeffries. I was initially employed as the drummer for the project but through the favor of God, i was soon promoted to Music Director. My duties as the Music Director/ Drummer entailed organizing the music and drum tracks. In 2008, I was asked to be a judge at the Guitar Center "Drum Off ". My job was to grade each drummers performance based off 5 categories. In 2009, I played live drums in a studio recording for DJ Fella . In that same year I organized a Drum Clinic, giving my approach to basic and advanced drumming. I also was one of the Drummers in the 2012 Guitar Center drum off. I made it all the way to the store finals. This inspired me to do my own solo album in 2013 entitled " Forward Motion ".
Currently I play drums for Hip Hop Artist Raw Facts, R&B Artist Ella Nicole, & my own band DRK Nites Trio. I have played for Artists such as Maureen Jeffries, Jo Sallins, DJ Fella, Sekou Haze, Therron Fowler, Andre Harris, Benjamin Marsh, and many others. I also studied under great drummers such as Lester Wallace, Cory Baker, and Soan Brice.
My prayer and goal is to get out and play as much as I can, whenever I can.
