ABOUT

I do most of the lead singing. But the other guys do a song or two each, also. Have a CD released. Am on a regional label. Do mostly paying gigs, specializing in festivals (but do occasional freebies for worthwhile non-profit organizations - or for the door/tips at a couple of places that I just enjoy playing) Primary material is blues,R & B from the early to late 1950s and rock-a-billy. I play festivals, other concert venues, arts council-sponsored events and library auditoriums. Also, play a few selected "nice" bars, but prefer venues where smoking is not permitted, 'cause I don't like breathing smoke. In addition to singing, I strive to entertain the audience (without being profane, cheezy or hoaky). We dress in, loosely, the hip styles of the 1930s & '40s. All the players are experienced professional-quality musicians and they are punctual, reliable and easy to get along with. The ability to get along well with others is super important because we like our practices and gigs to be FUN!!!

Influences

Almost any first-generation blues, jump-blues or R&B singer you've ever heard. I've learned from all their recordings, but don't try to mimic any of them. Don't want my singing to sound like anyone but me. 'Cause I figure if you want to hear the originals you can listen to their CDs instead of some singer trying to mimic them.

Members Of Band

I have a five piece band. Ages range from 29 to 60.(I'm the oldest cat in the barn.) I'm on vocals, backed by a drummer, lead guitar player and a resonator slide player/harmonica player and bassist. These guys are experienced professional-quality musicians - and they are punctual, reliable and easy to get along with.

EQUIPMENT

Have a PA, monitors, speaker stands, mics, and other necessary PA-related stuff. At outdoor venues we hire a professional sound provider, unless the venue furnishes sound.
