ABOUT

Don Mathews is a country singer / songwriter / rhythm guitarist who has been nationally recognized by President George W. Bush the New York Fire Department and the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Louisiana Emergency Medical Services for his song Tribute To EMS witch is being used in stress management with EMS and Public Safety Personnel. He has been performing solo up to this point. We are looking to put a band together that wants to stay together as a group and go places. We would like to recut both CD’s and start working on several others. We are starting to travel by special invite to different venues around the US. If you are highly dedicated to your music then this may be your shot. He is not and does not want to be in this for him self and thus does not want anyone who wants it to be about them selves. It is and will always be about the group. He has recently played in Wisconsin and Michigan and is looking to Tour with the right people. He has released two CD’s with a studio band but would like a group with a family atmosphere. He is currently in Raleigh, NC to record and perform.
We are looking for a Lead Guitarist, Drummer, and Bass Guitarist.

Influences

I grew up in and around the EMS community. My father, Don Mathews, has been in EMS since 1969. He has owned several small Ambulance Services in Michigan. He has seen about all there is to see in his forty years of service and dedication. Music is and always has been his first love. He is now trying to launch a career as a singer/songwriter. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

In Michigan where I worked EMS we have case incident reviews and critical incident stress debriefings for anyone involved in any situation. It blows my mind that these services are not available everywhere, where I live now we had two young children that were struck by a vehicle and died. We had several Officers and EMS personnel along with civilians affected deeply by this, as anyone would be. When I tried to find out about any incident reviews or emergency management counseling I was told that they did not need it, it was their job to deal with these things, and if they needed that service they should find another job. While all of this is true from an employer’s standpoint I feel it is morally and ethically wrong to not have counseling available for those that need it. I wish there was and would like to see a nationwide non-profit to provide this most basic of needs for those that give us their all everyday!

In late 2004 my father wrote a song titled “Tribute To EMS” after a friend and fellow medic he knew committed suicide after not being able to handle a scene he had been on and my father himself was questioning his career choice and whether or not it really mattered to anyone else! He sent the song out to several Fire and EMS departments!

He then sent the song along with a letter to Louisiana post Hurricane Katrina to show his support and received loads of thanks and gratitude in return. It was then sent to the Whitehouse upon which time we were informed that a lot of Emergency Response Personnel in NYC and surrounding areas were still having issues coping with our tragedy of September 11, 2001. We sent the song to the NYC Fire Counseling Unit with much praise and thanks again. We then received the letters you see before you from both President Bush himself and the NYC Fire Counseling Unit.

The song has helped many people get through times of doubt and grief. We released the first CD “Memories of You” in 2005 with no hype backing or press behind it so it would be available to all and continued to send to others upon request. We are now trying to reach out to everyone everywhere and touch as many lives as possible and along the way further my father’s music career! We need as many people as we can to spread the word and share his music. Especially if it touches your life in any way. His first CD “Memories of You” is available to purchase online through CDBaby, Target, Walmart and donmathewsenterprise. Please pass the word and keep the faith and continue to protect and serve and we will continue to honor all of you and us, for all we give and do. I thank all of you again for your support!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sincerely: Chris Mathews
