ABOUT

54 year old prog rockin' bassist with chops 40 years in the making.

Are you seasoned? Accomplished on your instrument? Do you love the 3 piece power trio? I do. Only interested in 3 pieces where I can add the most musical value.

I have my own style heavily influenced by Stanley Clarke, John Entwistle, and I'm about to embrace Sheehan's particular style of compression fury.

Figure the kind of music I love there isn't a huge market draw for so it'll likely be a local thing where we work to get out of the basement. That's okay as long as it's fun. Have enough high pressure in life. Music is about relaxing and playing loud with precision. That's what it is for me and I'm a prog guy, not in the terms of FISH but in the terms of RUSH, UK, Bruford, The Winery Dogs, etc. Love YES but Jon's voice gets grating. Simply love Dream Theater but can't stand their singer. A fan of Symphony X. My current fave I'd like to emulate is the Winery Dogs.

If any of the above makes sense to you and you live within 10 miles of Woodbridge, VA I want to meet you.

Influences

Primarily John Entwistle, Geddy Lee & Stanley Clarke. Secondarily Geezer Butler, Chris Squire, John Paul Jones, and all the classic and R&B greats. Melodically most influenced by Carlos Santana, the Allman Brothers, and Jaco. A lot more funk in my playing than I realize myself. Larry Graham was Godfather to my influences.

EQUIPMENT

A mix of Fender, Gibson and Epiphone basses. A traditional 8x10 stack and an extremely powerful small amp that can be used to feed a PA and serve as an onstage bass monitor. Equipment is definitely not an issue.
