When writing music, I seek to innovate while maintaining listenability. I am very much focused on the style of what is played rather than the actual form of the music. This translates in to experimenting with how the pick engages the string or harmonics. I focus on rhythm while maintaining a melody. This does not stop me from playing a good solo, however,
Lyrically, I sometimes arrange two logics within a song. I try to create a double meaning by doing this, depending on what context you understand the song, it could mean something completely different. Other times, I will just try to convey a story about something meaningful to me.

Influences
I listen to music all across the spectrum of what is considered "rock." I don't discriminate by generation. There will be some songs that I absolutely love by certain bands, and others I despise. Sometimes the culture or image of the band can completely turn me off. I tend not to get in to bands as a whole, but when I do, they're bound to become a lifelong fascination.
Some of the bands that play the songs that I listen to are:

The Man, The Doors, The White Stripes, Foster the People, Porno for Pyros, Built to Spill, Pixies, Weezer, Incubus, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin (early), Justice, Pink Floyd, The Shins, Amadou & Mariam, Broken Bells, Gin Blossoms, Cranberries, U2, Jefferson Airplane.
