ABOUT

I'm a versatile drummer that has played music from many genres including most styles of rock 'n' roll (especially classic rock), jazz, pop, contemporary Christian, country, rockabilly, funk, blues, and Motown. My UTube channel features drum covers for praise and worship music, rock and roll songs I've performed live with bands, and some jazz drum covers. At present I play drums for East Carolina University Jazz Ensemble (B). Previously I played drums for Sarge Band, music ministry for Epiphany Catholic Church, Judes Ferry Band, St. John Neumann Choirs, Plaid Orphans, The Mannequins, and Ferrum College Jazz Ensemble. I won the Ferrum College Talent Show playing drums as an undergrad many years ago. My previous work with other groups has included playing benefit concerts for non-profit organizations, which I have very much enjoyed.

Influences

As mentioned above, I can play drums for many genres of music. I generally consider myself a "song drummer" in that I most appreciate drummers whose playing and performance complements and brings out the best of whatever music they're playing. With that said, I'm an old school drummer who still practices rudiments, uses a metronome, can read drum charts, and I never stop learning. The fact that I'm way past being a spring chicken and play in the ECU Jazz Ensemble at my age speaks to my passion for drumming, music, and lifelong learning. I'm presently taking drum lessons with Peter Erskine and Kobie Watkins.
