Kevin received his first impression of the band environment, watching his uncle Richard's band play in the basement in the late 60s. After his uncle's band would leave, Kevin would then sneak downstairs to play the drums. Kevin's early listening started with Antonio Jobim, Gilberto, Stan Getz, and Brazil 66. Using tinker toy sticks as drumsticks, he began tapping on the cans, and became addicted.

After playing in commercial top 40 cover bands in the 70s with the California Talent Agency, he moved to Spokane Washington to attend schooling at Gonzaga University in 1980. At that time he began playing again, with the school symphonic, and jazz band. He met Joe Finetti, and soon began playing in a circle of other musicians, Rob McConnell, Clare Fischer, Don Shelton (Hi-Lo's). In 1983, he competed at the All American Collegiate Talent Showcase in front of an audience of 9,000 people The Jazz group he was with took runner up to Jeff Dunham the 1st place winner. After touring Europe with the USO, he moved back to Washington state.

In 1992, he moved to the Southern Oregon coast, and began playing with Jazz quartets - Franklin Turner, and the "It's About Time Big Band." It was there he started in music ministry.

Kevin now spends his spare time with vocal recording experimentation, and using his drumming experience to help others in a world wide faith of praise and worship. He can be heard on some Sunday mornings in the worship live stream on .westwoodbaptist He is currently seeking his next music chapter with a big band, and Brazilian Bossa Nova environment.
