Metus Rivers was born in New Britain Ct on July 17th 1964, after first grade his parents moved to Daytona Beach Florida in 1971 were he grew up. In 1976 at age 11 he started taking drum lessons from a neighbor; Henry “Skip” Bowers and Skip taught Metus how to read music and Metus gained lots of drum skills early in life. Throughtout his 40+ year career playing music he has performed with many working bands in the genres of Christian Rock, Classic Rock, Alternative, Metal, Blues, and Country music.

Recently Metus has performed in the Christain Rock Band Urgent Message and also the Classic Rock Power Trio “The Metus Rivers Band. He's been the member of other Rock bands, Level 4, Tripwire, and Davey Leatherwood. These bands have had varying and innovative styles that were more than just your average rock bands. He has performed Hit songs from modern day Pop Rock bands like 3 Doors Down, Maroon 5, and also songs like “Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay. Plus “Rocked Out” modern day hits like “Centuries” by Fallout Boy or “Drops of Jupiter” by Train as well as performing classic hit tunes like “Cold as Ice by Foreigner, “Piano Man” by Billy Joel, “Turn The Page” by Bob Segar, “Separate Ways” by Journey, or “Fame” by David Bowie, and many other hits from the 60’s to the present.

Influences

Metus' main influences were bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Genesis, Rush and Lynyrd Skynyrd. His favorite band growing up was The Who, today his favorite Casting Crowns. Metus is inspired by drummers like Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, Keith Moon, Jeff Porcaro, Simon Phillips, Ian Paice, and Tommy Aldridge, just to name a few! Interesting Fact about Metus: He is a retired Master Sgt from the U.S. Air Force, whose wife calls him “just a blast from the past!” because he’s really just a 52 year old teenager! Metus is married to his lovely wife Diane L. Rivers from Orlando Florida.
