I have been playing drums for 57 years now, since I was 9. I have played in local Praise and worship bands of late and in my early years played mostly cover songs of 60s rock...IN THE SIXTIES. I have a solid back beat style that can also be called up to drive through the most searing of lead breaks. I give space to my playing and space to those I am supporting. Without space there is just dissonance; nothing is pronounced or really heard. within those constraints, I focus on being an integrated part of the music, and am not looking for drum solos. Fills are fine as long as they are tasteful and appropriate.
