Do you play trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, guitar, bass or drums? Do you compose or arrange music for large jazz ensemble? This is the band for you!
I am seeking 4 trumpets, 3-4 additional trombones and 5 saxophones to start an original music big band in the Silver Spring/DC area. It is called a “Lab” band because it would feature original compositions and arrangements written by band members and associated arrangers. (I hope to not ever have to purchase charts from publishing houses).
This band is volunteer based, and I cannot offer compensation, but I CAN offer you the chance to have your music heard, workshopped and performed in public settings. I am a jazz trombone player and a composer/arranger that has a non-music day job. This band is perfect for people who love to play but do other things for a living, OR people who play for a living but want to try their hand at writing. Once I have an idea as to the band roster, I will work on getting a rehearsal space. I am looking to rehearse at All Souls Church Unitarian (in NW DC) on Sunday afternoons but time and place may change depending on scheduling consensus from band members.

Members Of Band
I already have guitar, bass, drums, one alto sax, one tenor sax and one baritone sax, two trumpets and three trombones. I am seeking TWO more trumpets, a Bass trombone, a tenor saxophone and a piano player. If you play any of the instruments whose slots I already have filled, still feel free to contact me as people who say they've committed now may drop out before the band has its first rehearsal.
