Emerson O’Reilly is the creative stylings of West Michigan local musician, Sean Cyphers. Born from the union of 2 musical families, you can expect unparalleled talent, dedication, and entertainment when you spend time with us!
You may know Sean from his musical endeavors throughout the past 18+ years. At 17 years old, Sean began his musical career as lead guitar and vocalist for the Battle Creek-based punk rock band, Exit-96. After high school, he attended WMU and spent every spare minute he had freelancing around Kalamazoo with various hip hop, gospel, R&B, rock, and country artists and groups. Eventually, Gunship Radio was born - an alternative rock & roll group that roared across the Midwest with their high-energy shows at notable local venues such as Planet Rock, The Strutt, and The Intersection in Grand Rapids.
After the band lost their drummer, Sean took a professional hiatus from music to pursue a career in general aviation. Climbing the corporate ladder, Sean spent the past few years moving across the country with his management positions, of course bringing his guitar with him. During his time out of state, Sean poured his creativity into songwriting. Since his return to the Mitten State in 2021, he has enjoyed jumping back into the music scene, playing lead guitar for local artists across various genres, playing acoustic gigs at farmers markets, nursing homes, and antique shows across the state, and running music lessons for kids and adults of all ages and skill levels.
Moving into 2023, Emerson O’Reilly is launching as a platform for all of Sean’s musical ramblings - and we cannot wait to see what becomes of it!
