Band to Join, Bass Guitar, Drums, Other Percussion, Other.

I am a guitarist based in New York City. I write and play a lot of experimental music that uses unique tuning systems. As the former guitarist for the band IKILLYA, I toured the United States, UK and parts of Canada for about 4 years and wrote and recorded the band's final album, "War For An Idea."

After leaving IKILLYA, I went back and forth on what my musical identity would be moving forward. I've continued to write my own experimental music, but lately I've been thinking about finding other like-minded musicians to possibly put something together.

Ideally I'd like to play in a small band, probably no bigger than a three-piece. Instrumental, as I don't feel like shackling the music I play with lyrics. I'm not interested in touring at this point in my life, and at least not to the massive degree I was in my previous band. I would want this to be a local band that is aware of what it means to be a group of musicians in a local musical culture and the local responsibility that comes with it.

I'm not interested in genre as I am with intent--though obviously I would like the outfit to be a musical performance that allows me to utilize the abilities I've honed over the years. I'm interested in writing experimental, instrumental music that explores themes and concepts and is less concerned with writing "songs" as the current industry likes to define them. This should basically be unprofitable music that will never make money.
