ABOUT

Experienced singer and film composer looking to complete a folk/world group with a darker sound. Like all those Nordic pagan groups--but with more Latin and American indigenous influences, to reflect the heritage of people in the band. Right now we are: me on vocals/bari uke/Kazakh dombra, a percussionist on ethnic hand percussion (she's amazing) and another guy on fretted instruments and ethnic flutes. We tend to rehearse Sunday mornings. We could really use a bass/cello for lower rhythm and possibly a vocalist who plays other instruments. Band is still in the formation phase.

Bit more about me: I also play some ethnic flutes and am learning Tuvan throat singing. My day job is composer's assistant; I mix songs and manage a recording studio. I've played in rock bands for many years. Really want to form a band that can record some cool stuff, make some YouTube videos (surprisingly important) and do some local gigs.

Influences

Saodaj', Heilung, Wardruna, Kaleema, Lulacruza, Chancha via Circuito, Alash, Altai Kai, Faun, continuous random weird things on Spotify (e.g. Emptyset).

"older" influences, aka bands I'll always love: oh you know, Led Zep, Beatles, NIN, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Jeff Buckley, Oingo Boingo. But I don't consider them influences per se, since everyone lists that kind of stuff.
