ABOUT

I was born in Inglewood Ca, in 1984. I have lived in Los Angeles my whole life and was intrigued early on by music. I have fond childhood memories with the Beatles on vinyl (Thanks sis). Not to mention Ferris Bueller's Day Off..
I loved the radio as a kid.. Now we have podcasts! (Phish Radio, anyone?) And then I discovered my father's vast Jazz and Blues collection. I picked up the trumpet but wasn't truly inspired. And asthma makes brass instruments a little exhausting..

Highschool was interesting and enlightening. I was introduced to a diverse group of friends and broadened my musical horizons further than before, now being drawn to the super-fast, the loud or the hypnotic.. I was taught my first guitar chords in my senior year. Thanks dudes! But after being the typical angsty young graduate, I decided that tranquility might better serve my palette.

Welcome to Hippie-dom. I was sure at this point that music was my future as opposed to visual arts, which had dominated my previous years. The insatiable desire to be the man on the guitar has not waned, but I've learned to play bass and I'm beginning to understand the percussive-ness of the keys..
The sun was rising in splendor one morning when I was blessed with a song, the first of many. And since then I have taken the name Erthman, because I am of earth but truly from the stars. And the things I sing about are my observations of both.. Especially the people who inhabit this spinning rock.
