ABOUT

Fred Girard is a blues rock guitarist and worship leader from Detroit. He also co-founded and ran "Detroit's Number One Recording Studio" according to Metro Times Magazine, and teaches guitar, composition and arranging. He has performed in venues of all sizes across North America and the Caribbean including over eighty thousand people at the Pontiac Silverdome, and for national television audiences of millions. He was a member of pop icon Badfinger, and has toured, recorded, or performed with a long list of respected artists. Among them: Captain and Tennille, Maynard Ferguson, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members The Four Tops and Martha Reeves, Phil Keaggy, Kent Henry, Doc Holiday, Spyro Gyra, The Second Avenue Band, Christopher James Gang, Osiris, Dana Jorgensen, The Answers, Ringling Brothers Circus, and on Broadway in Jesus Christ Superstar, and Porgy & Bess.

Fred was co-founder and CEO of Event Horizons, the nation’s largest mobile entertainment provider, and earned a spot on the INC. 500 List of Fastest Growing Companies. It’s divisions, Starshowz, and StarDJs, employed hundreds of entertainers, performed over ten thousand events worldwide, entertained over a million people, and was instrumental in bringing the Karaoke phenomenon to the U.S. They received accolades in the New York Times, DJ Times, and many other trade and financial publications.

Fred is currently producing several new projects and records or performs as a guest artist, solo artist and with his band at various venues, resorts, festivals, concerts and churches. He has led congregational worship at many churches and events including 5,000+ congregations in Michigan and Florida. He’s served as Music Director and Worship Leader at First Presbyterian of W. Palm Beach, and CrossPointe Community as well as being a worship leader and musician at Boca Raton Community and Calvary Chapel in Florida, and Bloomfield Hills Christian, Cornerstone, and Northridge Churches in Michigan where he also led their Prison Ministry Band. Fred started playing guitar at age six, began serious study in Jr. High, and started playing professionally at fourteen. His father was the vocalist for the Marine Corp Big Band during WWII, and his mother is a talented by ear musician. Fred began winning music competitions by age sixteen, and his band Osiris, placed first out of sixty-five finalists for the state championships at seventeen, earning his first major recording contract with Bob Seger's manager, Punch Andrews. He studied guitar at Troy HS and received a full scholarship to the Ohio State University School of Music, and also studied music at Interlochen, Wolftrap, and at Ramapo College under the tutelage of jazz legend Jack Wilkins in NYC. He was the first chair guitarist and featured soloist at all five schools. He was accepted into the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and was listed in Who's Who, and MENSA.
