ABOUT

***Not looking for a band at this time.***

My musical tastes run the gamut. I am most comfortable playing rock, blues, and folk (Americana), with a little jazz thrown in. I'm always up for a challenge, and will try to wrap my fingers around anything. There are way too many great artists to start listing, but think everything from Talking Heads to Jason Isbell with a little Van Morrison thrown in, wrapped up in a couple of really hard rocking tunes from Cheap Trick and The Black Crowes.

I have been playing music since I was 8. I played guitar for many years but started playing bass several years ago. I really enjoy the role the bass fulfills in the band as the support and foundation for others build upon. I'm not a superstar and, while I don't mind the spotlight, I don't pursue it. I can sing some, but it would be up to you as to whether my voice would fit with others.

I am not an expert by any means. I am teaching myself to read music. I work up most of my songs by ear or tab right now. If I have absolutely no familiarity with a tune, I can usually pick up the basics pretty quickly and provide at least a fundamental groove for the number. Since I used to play guitar, I can watch the guitarist for the chord changes and pick them up from there pretty well, also. I don't play slap bass. I may learn some time, it's just not something that's been a priority for me.

I do have experience in playing in a band in front of people. Some of my fondest memories are of when the band is tight and the crowd is really into what they are playing and they start feeding off each other.

My main rig is a Fender P-Bass running through a Little Mark III head into a 210 cab. I can add a Carvin 1x15 cab to get some really low-end punch and added volume if needed for a large or outdoor venue.

I like to drink a little bourbon at times, but don't partake of any other kind of recreational substances. I hate "drama". Way too old for that. I like to have a good time with folks who have gotten together to enjoy playing good music.

I have a "day job". Right now my schedule is 1st shift Saturday and Sunday, 2nd shift Monday - Wednesday. Off Thursdays and Fridays. So I'm available for gigs and rehearsal on Thursday - Sunday, however I would hope they wouldn't be too late on Friday or Saturday since I have to be at work at 7:00a the next morning. Of course, I guess I could just stay up all night! :)
