ABOUT

I was a hardcore punk kid in the CB’s/A7 scene in New York, where every kind of old or new music with an active live scene or a following on non-commercial radio got to you whether you liked it or not.

I somehow ended up in a band with older, jazz-trained guys and managed to fake it through two European tours and a bunch of studio gigs. After years of faking my way through other gigs as a writer and graphic designer, I’m frankly tired of not being in over my head, and want you and some even worse oddballs to pretend we know what we’re doing and do a couple records and some shows.

I play all the basic rock-band instruments well, allowing flexibility and letting anyone off the hook from just being the percussion/drum guy.

Influences

I really, truly have no interest in most metal, hip-hop, EDM, or pop-punk, and no ability to advance those genres in any fun, subversive way, e.g. by sucking at them on purpose.

Anything I do is going to be informed by punk and early hardcore, avant/prog stuff like Neu! and various strains of angular, minimal, and/or harmonically interesting postpunk, and I love melody, Richard Thompson, and Nick Drake.
