The Biography of Mr. Geno Wesley


There's a message in the music!!! The artist known as Geno was born Wendell Geneiro Wesley on November,22nd,1974 in the city of Mobile, Al. To Mr.and Mrs.Barry Wendell Wesley. He was born into a family of talented gospel singers,songwriters,and musicians. At the tender age of four Geno performed his first solo on a christmas program in church, but due to his shy demeanor he shoned singing. Growing up Geno was an honor roll student, and as the years passed he began to develope a passion for the performing arts, and while taking drama classes. He also began to become interested in performing poetry and acting in stage plays. Throughout middle school he won various awards and prizes for his talents. And even started a career in school politics where he won elections for student council Chaplain and Vice Presidency. At the age of 13 he was blessed with the opportunity to assist the legendary gospel great,"The Reverend James Cleveland" while the reverend was attending the (1988 Gospel Music Workshop of America in Mobile, Al). At the age of 15 Geno regained his confidence in singing and began performing in high school talent shows. And rekindled his love for the stage, where he had a brief run in the gospel play "It's Now or Later". Then at the age of sixteen he joined his first singing group formerly known as" Uneeke", which opened up for artist such as Toni,Tony,Tone, and Bell Biv Devoe ,and other major artists of the late 80's and early 90's. And along with performing with the group, he started his first demo recordings. After "Geno" matured and obtained better oppurtunites he formed his own group. In which through a mutual friend they were signed to Reno Calhoun for management "formerly R Kellys' road manager." After creative differences Geno and the group dispanded. Geno later formed another group with a long time friend and Me and My Manz was born. With the group "Geno" went on to record demos for a record deal. And In the process of shopping for the deal they toured with "Jaheim" and opened up for groups like the Chi-Lites, Cherelle, The Bar-Kays, Lakeside, Doug E.Fresh, Immature, and many more. In 1998 Geno joined the motown band the "Tip-Tops" as it's lead vocalist and performed along side The Oak Ridge Boys, Harry Connick Sr. and the list goes on and on. In 2000, and 2001 the group Me and My Manz played Bayfest and in 2002 the group went there separate ways. The now solo artist Geno this point in his career started touring with the gospel play Love Shoulda Brought You Home with the likes of Todd Bridges of Different Strokes, Clyde Jones of Coming to America, Chrissy Collins, Andretta Lyles ,and Phelda Johnson all of Tyler Perrys Madea Shows, Movies and Plays. He also went on to do tv commercials for (Quick Pawn Shop). And started recording material for the southern soul genre. From which he has released songs that are currently playing on the radio and internet stations. He is also a writer, producer, and composer of his own material. He is the former lead singer for the Motown Show Bands the TipTops, Powerhouse, and Starzs of Gulfport, Ms. In 2005 he was a finalist on "TOM JOYNER'S" BIG BREAK. In November of 2007 "Geno" recorded two tracks with the Legendary Blues Artist Mel Waiters at his studio in San Antonio, Tx. In 2012 "Geno" performed at the Spring Fling in Mobile, AL. Geno is currently in the studio working on new material and he continues to perform with his band and record. Geno is truly thankful for what God has allowed him to do. And he is looking forward to sharing it with the rest of the world.
