I am a 45 year old married man with 3 grown kids and a high school sophomore still at home. I was taught to play fiddle starting when I was 8 years old by Amos Hedrick (Famous Amos, "Brazos Valley Boys (fiddle player) and Bob Wills Texas Playboys (fiddle player). I took lessons from Amos until I became an argumentative teenager and he was diagnosed with cancer. I can not read music but over the years have taught myself the guitar, drums, a little piano, and country/blues harmonica. Playing blues harmonica is the only instrument that I feel I'm good enough to sit in with any band and improve their sound. My main instrument is my voice. I grew up singing and playing country music and playing for company parties and functions accrss the state when I was 12,13,14. I have a natural yodel and growl when singing country. I started singing classic blues about 10 years ago and love it. classic blues i.e. Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Willie Dixon, Robert Johnson etc. My vibrato is solid but I never drown a song with it. My singing versatility covers a very wide range of genres to include the foollowing artists, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Harry Connick Jr. , Billy Joel, Muddy Waters .Eric Clapton, CCR, Nirvana, .Lynard Skinyard, Stray Cats, Randy Travis(wanted to mention him specifically because of his unique sound) Elvis Presley (young rock & rollish elvis) Johnny cash, Stevie Ray Vaughn. As far as playing the acoustic guitar goes...........I only know how to play slide delta/Chicago blues and anything with the chord E,A, B progression, (A LOT OF COUNTRTY)
