Hey! I'm Jake, I'm a 24 year old bass and guitar player looking to get more work. I got my first bass when I was 10 or 11 and have been playing ever since. When I was about 17 in my junior year of high school, I started to learn about jazz and advanced harmony from several well renowned Arizona musicians. I started to play in jazz combos at Scottsdale Community College (SCC) around that time, then after graduating high school I went to SCC full time for music, where I also played in the jazz big band for 2+ years. I eventually auditioned for ASU's jazz program and was accepted as a bass major, but ultimately left due to the program being mostly upright bass oriented. In June 2019 I graduated from Scottsdale Community College and Berklee Online with a bachelor's degree in performing arts.

For real world experience, I've been doing church gigs all over Arizona for several years. For over nine months I was the house bass player for New Beginnings Christian Church in Mesa, AZ.
In September 2017 I was the bass player for a jazz trio that played at Tempe Center for the Arts, with the program being called "A Brubeck Brew". The piano player actually found me by using this site!
I've also been the bass player in several local bands, including a hip hop band that has played dozens of shows across Arizona as well as a tour in May 2017, a r&b/soul band that has played to a festival crowd of over 1,000 people, and I've played in a pop/rock cover band for more corporate/lounge style background music.
In addition to playing live, throughout 2018-2019 I've recorded with several Arizona artists as a player and writer. I'm currently tracking guitar for a local producers' debut album, as well as playing bass on a jazz fusion album with an incredibly talented band.
As of October 2019 I started teaching guitar, bass, and ukulele as a guitar center instructor.

All in all, I'm a very flexible player. I've played just about every style of music and have the experience to not just do the bare essentials but jam out and have a good time playing. If you'd like to see some of my playing, search jake.silverman.irl on Insta. Hope to jam soon!
