Hey! I'm Jake, I'm a 23 year old bass and guitar player looking to get more work. I got my first bass when I was 10 or 11 and have been playing ever since. When I was about 17 in my junior year of high school, I started to learn about jazz and advanced harmony from some great instructors. I started to play in jazz combos at Scottsdale Community College around that time, then after graduating high school I went to SCC full time for music, where I also played in the big band for 2 years. In Spring of 2016 I transferred over to ASU for the jazz bass program, but ultimately left due to the program being mostly upright bass oriented. Currently I'm enrolled at SCC and Berklee Online getting my bachelor degree specializing in bass and guitar performance.

For real world experience, I've been doing church gigs all over Arizona for the last two years. For nine months I was the house bass player for New Beginnings Christian Church.
In September 2017 I was the bass player for a jazz trio that played at Tempe Center for the Arts, with the program being called "A Brubeck Brew". The piano player actually found me using by this site!
I've also been the bass player in several local bands, including a hip hop band that has played dozens of shows across Arizona as well as a tour in May 2017, a r&b/soul band that has played to a festival crowd of over 1,000 people, and I've played in a pop/rock cover band for more corporate/lounge style background music.
In addition to playing live, throughout 2018 I've also started to record with other artists for their projects. I'm tracking guitar for a local producers debut album, as well as playing bass on a jazz fusion album with an incredibly talented band.

All in all I'm a very flexible player. I've played just about every style of music and have the experience to not just do the bare essentials, but jam out and have a good time playing. If you'd like to see some of my playing, search jake.silverman.irl on a certain INSTAnt GRAMmatically correct app. Hope to jam soon!
