ABOUT

Search "Y-O-U Tube" ("GiL Young") for many more video clips:
Began in grade school with violin, trumpet, cello and then baritone, which led me to the bass clef. First picked up an acoustic guitar at 10 years, then an electric bass guitar at 12 years. Made a respectable living at it after high school and college for some years but then took a long hiatus. Studied with Edwin "Ed" Kelly for 3 years in college.

Favorite genres are wide-ranging and include: free funk, old school classic rock, Motown/ soul, blues, jazz & fusion. Performed and recorded with power trios, cover quartets, Motown R and B revues w/ horns, then relocated from S.F. and continued with wedding bands, bar bands, jam bands, party bands and jazz players in the Poconos.

Pro gear, pro attitude, decades of live & studio experience, no ego trips or bad habits.
Able to read and transpose charts & the fake books, play fretless, double bass, some guitar and sing harmony & lead vocals.
A team player and a quick study with wide open ears
