I want to jam and record just for fun.

I currently jam with the guys from Copperhead most weekends. I also occasionally play with The YoYos & The Fugitives, and would love to jam with your band, too. Text 2O8 918 DRUM if YOU need a fill-in or session drummer!

I am a solid and reliable rock, funk, and blues drummer. I also sing (a little) and dabble (very little) at several other instruments.

I love to play everything from James Brown/Motown/Stax classics to 80's bands like Night Ranger/Police/Journey/Tommy Tutone to classic rock like Skynyrd/Doobie Brothers/Eagles and anything else folks like to sing along and dance to.

I would love to jam with any local rock, blues, funk, soul, R&B, jazz, or reggae musicians that need a highly experienced drummer. I am also available on Saturdays & Sundays for fill/in substitute gigs if they are near Twin Falls.

I am NOT looking for a full time working band. If you want to play more than 2 or 3 Saturdays per month, I am not your guy. I might be the backup guy you have been looking for, though!

I'm highly reliable, keep pretty decent time for an amateur, and can play and get along with just about anyone so long as they are cool to others. You can ask any band I have played with.

I originally came to Idaho in late 2000 until I had to move for work in late 2013. Thankfully, I was able to come back home to Twin Falls in 2020 after 7 years working in Texas and Alabama. Those years away from home I had very few playing opportunities aside from a short stint in the Austin area band Swanky Digs and few sessions at a friend’s studio in Muscle Shoals. I tried to keep my chops up by playing along with recordings and backing tracks instead, which has really helped my time.

Since coming back home to Idaho I’ve had the good fortune to gig with Copperhead this year plus some great musicians in the Heath Clark Band from March to October of 2021.

Before moving to the Austin, TX area to work for a tech company, I played in one of the busiest working bands in Southern Idaho for a couple of years. You can see an old Medicine Man promotional video and “video scrapbook” of live performances on this page. You can hear me sing lead on Jenny, Smoke on the Water, and maybe 1-2 others. It's nothing special but passable for a bar cover band. I also did (attempted?) lots of background vocals.

Before playing with Bert (RIP), Aaron, Bill & Eddie in BR/Medicine Man, I gigged with a great guitarist and singer from the Sun Valley, ID area, Jay Rath in a band called Electric Snack. Snack was a fun band that did a mix of covers and Jay's originals.

The Idaho band I was in before Snack was doomed to very few gigs due to Brandon the bass player/singer's insistence to label it with such an embarrassingly BAD name (initials L.C.) that I won't even say it here. It was a real privilege to play with 2 of the funkiest guitarists around - Pete Masaro & the one and only Jared Asay! We played some pretty funky stuff for small town dudes in Idaho. ;)

I've played literally hundreds of gigs with more than a dozen bands over the years and recorded a handful of times. I prefer jamming/recording over gigging and have no interest in “full time working band” membership unless it can pay the mortgage. I am most interested in collaborating with artists who need a solid and versatile drummer/slap bassist/singer for writing & recording and/or jamming purely for pleasure.

Singers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, horn players, harp players, pickers, grinners, and music lovers that enjoy hanging out, jamming, improvising, and maybe recording occasionally. We can have fun with some covers, jam along with backing tracks I have been working on in Garage Band, do rocked out or funky versions of old standards, or just jam & improvise.

I have a 5 piece Pearl acoustic kit with triggers.
I also play a Roland mesh electronic kit, whichever is most appropriate for the situation.
I have Steven Slate Drums sounds for recording using my Pearl MimicPRO sound module.
I use top-quality professional Paiste cymbals or low-volume Zildjian cymbals for “hybrid” gigs or cymbal pads, as appropriate for the situation.
I have a Mac for GB and Main Stage. I also have a 12 channel Soundcraft mixer/USB multitrack audio interface and a few mics.
I have a few other instruments I'm still learning, but don't consider myself proficient enough to play them in a band yet.

The vintage early 70's "Butcher Block" Ludwigs in many of the videos were originally owned by my greatest drumming mentor, Alan Williams. I got them for a steal from Alan in the 90's. I played them for nearly 3 decades, but before leaving Alabama to return home to Idaho I gifted them back to Alan, who has painstakingly restored them to their former glory. THANK YOU, ALAN!
