About Funkanauts
Conceptualized by Jstone, leader of the band after being abducted by aliens as a kid he spent many years wondering what happened, why? Hypnosis led him back to his Bay Area residence where he lived as a child and went thru the experience again as an adult. Since then he has formed the Brothas From Planet Funk, a full production studio and the Funkanaut project. Funkanauts have 3 CD's to date. “Bringers of the Dawn” 1997, “Crash Landing” 2005 & “Reclaiming the Pyramids” 2008. With tons of material recorded the next CD should be available soon. Collaborations with Walter Earl Pianist, Amp Fiddler Synthesizers..Please Support Live Music & We will Never let the Funk Die!

Fear not cats & kitties of cosmic strumpet Mother Earth, for the Funkanauts have returned to claim the pyramids with this jubilant world-quaking, life-affirming voluminous funk groove. This music comes down so hard on the one it naturally locks you into an ecstatic frenzy from the opening crackle of “Groove With You” ….thru the outer space ways of “Commander Broun” .

All this funk is wrapped up in super-charged crack horn charts, slippery synthesizers with bad-azzed bass & guitar shredded madness all anchored by a fat, throbbing drum beat. Stimulating multi-layered choir-like vocals swirl over the top.

It’s funky fresh and energetic melodies like “Keepin It Real” that prove even in this day and age of plastic radio sounds The Funk is alive and thriving. The Funkanauts launch a full frontal assault against all of the negativity of life like a funky rainbow of sunbeams out of the Bay Area. Just check the clavinet-drenched, Bootsyesque bass acrobatics of “Give You What You Want” and you quickly realize the Funkanauts mission.

Simply put, these are the brothas from Planet Funk-the Guardians of the Good Groove. The funk flows freely thru their veins and is in the secret of the DNA. Its just a natural progression of the James Brown, P-Funk, Ohio Players, Sly, Prince-influenced sounds that bombarded their own young sensibilities and now ooze from the pores of their very soul.

They've picked up the instruments and started channeling that same energy by tapping into the immortal, esoteric and celestial frequency that is The One. This is the stanky and sweaty essence of creative juice, not some slick homogenized deodorized over-produced pre-packaged placebo schmuck we hear on the radio. Funkanauts be the reel deel. It’s just a wide-open, high-octane, toilet paper-ripping wipe out of colossal stank.

The message in this music is to simply “Feel the Funk”, use it to inspire yourself. No need to intellectualize, just let these juicy grooves into your very psyche and the vibrations will do the rest. Free your mind this is One Nation. They ain’t gonna spend no “Life Time” worrying about it either, just gonna live and let live and unite all under the common denominator of universal love and grooveallegiance. The paradisaical beat of “Chocolate Lollipop” and “Right Thing” are a celebratory fete of libidinous bliss. For those that like to groove we salute you on the pounding “We Got Funk”.

The Funkanauts have come to this dimension to awaken you to and remind you of your own birthright as the “Funky People” of the Universe. If you find yourself “all strung out on corporate radio, the feeling just ain’t real when you change the dial, did your boss lay you off from the job?” Funk it. Go forth and get off your ass and jam, awake and pay attention, for these Funkanauts have got “Something Fo’ Ya”.
