ABOUT

Good Afternoon,

I am Gunnery Sgt Lindsey with the United States Marine Corps, and I'm
contacting you to talk to you about the opportunities in the Marine Corps
Band. Your years of training and effort put into your instrument is
invaluable both to you, your school, your fraternity as well as the Marine
Corps. I am contacting you in the hopes of sparking an interest in you and
provide you with the knowledge of the opportunity that is out there for you
with the United States Marine Corps Band, which is one of the most elite
band and musical careers out there.

As a Marine Corps Musician, you'll make freedom ring throughout our Corps,
our country, and beyond. In the Marine Corps Musician Enlistment Option
Program (MEOP) you will have the unique opportunity to serve the nation as
both a Marine and a musician. If you have what it takes musically, and can
succeed both mentally and physically, the Marine Corps is looking for you.
If you have what it takes to perform and inspire under pressure, and the
ability to make it as both an inspirational musician and a valiant warrior,
the Marine Corps may be just what you are looking for!

As a Marine Musician, your schedule will always be full, and your mission
will always be fulfilling. Some days will be spent rehearsing or
maintaining military training standards, while other days will be filled
with performances at highly publicized events. After passing a live
audition, you'll have a chance to serve in "The Commandant's Own" Marine
Drum & Bugle Corps bands stationed in many different locations across the
United States and Japan.

In addition to performing with your primary instrument, there are several
advanced opportunities available to Marine Musicians. For example, as a
Drum Major, your leadership skills will be on full display as you train,
rehearse, and lead your band on the march. Another path includes the
Enlisted Conductor position, where your conducting skill will be honed at
advanced music schools, enabling you to lead bands during formal concerts.
If you'd like to lead small groups within the band such as quintets, jazz
bands, and rock bands, you can work toward becoming a Small Ensemble Leader!
Finally, career musicians have the opportunity to be trained as an
Instrument Repair Technician, which means you can become the full-time
repair technician within your band. If music is truly your passion, you can
make it your career in the Marine Corps.

All Marines are eligible for incentives such as the Montgomery GI Bill,
Marine Corps College Fund, and USMC shipping bonuses, "$7,500". Through the
Musician Enlistment Option Program (MEOP), musicians earn enlistment
incentives that aren't typical throughout the Marine Corps: Accelerated
Promotions- Musicians are promoted to the rank of Private First Class (E-2)
upon entry into the Marine Corps, Lance Corporal (E-3) after six months in
service, and Corporal (E-4) by their two-year mark. Guaranteed Duty Station
Preference- Musicians who show exceptional music proficiency can receive
their choice of duty station within one of the 12 Marine Corps Bands.

To become one of the elite few, you must prove yourself both as a Marine and
a musician. Once you've made it through Recruit Training, Marine Combat
Training, and the Armed Forces School of Music, you will be expected to
maintain both musical and military proficiency. This includes advanced
musical training as well as nonmusical training in areas such as basic
military skills, marksmanship, and anything else the broader mission
requires.

If you think you have what it takes to be one of Americas elite one of THE
FEW AND THE PROUD a MARINE and this sounds good to you and something you
would be interested in give me a call and we will set up a time and date to
sit down and talk about your options! You can contact any of the below
Marines who will help you on your journey of becoming one of the elite of
the elite a UNITED STATES MARINE!!

Members Of Band

Members of each Marine Corps musical unit become part of a storied
tradition, following in the footsteps of legendary Marine musicians like
John Philip Sousa and other musicians who for over 200 years have called
themselves Marines. If selected, you will have the opportunity to serve
with "The Commandant's Own" Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, or with one of the 12
Marine Corps Bands throughout the world. As a member of "The Commandant's
Own," you will travel around the world performing high-profile events in
such places as France, Norway, and Scotland. Each of the 12 Marine Corps
Bands consists of 50 musicians and an Officer in Charge. As a member of one
of these bands, your workday will never feel like just another day at the
office. You will perform in concert bands, marching bands, jazz bands,
combos, brass or woodwind quintets, rock bands, and even Dixieland bands.
Marine Corps bands are composed of standard band instrumentalists, including
musicians who play the oboe, bassoon, guitar, electric bass, and piano.
