ABOUT

heART Collective is inviting all trained musicians and hobbyist players in the Kansas City Metro area to audition for the Hazel Ensemble, a small community chamber orchestra. First and Second Violins, Viola, and Cello are absolutely needed. Depending on final player count, may also need one contrabass. Not limited to strings; all instruments welcome to audition. There is no fee. Students encouraged!

Current repertoire includes originals by Kansas City Symphony-premiered and acting director Charlie Shea, as well as traditional selections of classical, baroque, and romantic orchestral music, both secular and non-secular in variety. Selections will be ultimately decided by the director, with member consideration.

We will be rehearsing in a small-to-medium sized clubhouse in Olathe near K-7 and Santa Fe. Chairs and stands will be provided, as well as all sheet music and folders. heART Collective guild associates will handle all scheduling, depending on member availability. This post will be updated when a general consensus is reached. Rehearsals will likely take place Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings. Recitals and gigs are TBD, and booking will be handled by heART Collective guild associates.

"The Hazel Ensemble is a community project, and will depend heavily on the character of each player as well as their cooperation with each other. This is a newly forming group and will likely require a little patience and understanding while we figure out all of the kinks. I'm excited for this project, it has great potential and it's going to turn out very nicely so long as we remain respectful and inclusive. It's going to be fun!"

-Charlie Shea, Director and Composer-in-Residence

Once again, all musicians welcomed to audition. Minors must obtain parental permission and state their age upon application. There is no fee to audition. No discrimination based on age, gender, or race. Please email with questions.
