ABOUT

Moved to Nashville in 1990 to be guitar player and songwriter. Took a couple odd twists and turns (see below...) Nights and weekends, student of music, occasional songwriter... By day:

Mark Montgomery is Nashville's most well-known music and tech entrepreneur. He has been working in the digital and web space since 1992, when he launched one of the first five companies in the U.S. that sold music on the web. In 1999, co-founded the firm echomusic, which managed the digital businesses of some of the biggest entertainers in the world.

echomusic was sold to IAC in 2007, and post his exit in 2009, Mark worked as the Entrepreneur in Residence for Claritas Capital; helped launch the Nashville Entrepreneur Center; worked on the launch of the Music City Music Council; and generally worked to help grow the Nashville entrepreneurial ecosystem as a advocate, mentor and investor. To say he has his fingers in a lot of pies would be an understatement.

Mark recently founded FLO {thinkery}, a cutting edge think tank and investment firm focused on starting companies in the consumer space. He also serves as the CEO of a spirits company, Fishbowl Spirits, and sits on the boards of several for profit and not for profit companies. He and his wife, Joanna, live in on a bluff just outside the city with their daughter, Magnolia, three dogs, two cats, and a fish named Bob.

Influences

Just a few: Zep, Black Crowes, Lyle Lovett, Over The Rhine, U2, did I mention Zep, Pearl Jam, Bad Company, King's X, Foo Fighters, Joe Ebel, Michael Hedges, pretty much any hair metal band with a great guitar player, Coldplay, the Doors, Kings of Leon, Guy Clark, My Morning Jacket, Prince, Willie Nelson, Bowie. You know, humans playing instruments (computer help optional if tastefully done)

EQUIPMENT

Ohhh, I have way too many guitars, a little mancave studio (ok, its a big mancave studio), drum kits, bass guitars, amps out the wazoo, all kinds of implements of destruction.

A couple Strat's
A couple Les Paul's
A couple Laravee's
A couple Gibsons
A couple Fenders
A killer P3 amp
Marshall's

And a few more cool items (I'm a gear slut)
