Over 35 yrs. drumming. Strong rock and jazz background. Years of gigs and recordings playing rock, pop, trad. and contemporary jazz, fusion, latin, funk, soul, country, folk, etc. Have contributed to many original and cover projects as a regular member as well as a side man. Some projects/artists include Richard Chase Group with Ethan Stone (folk/Rock/pop), guitarist Joe Belmont (joebelmont), Revolving Door Band Hendrix tribute w Steve Canty, Jay Elfenbein (elfpagesmusic), Sarah Clay Jazz Band (clayjazz), WTF Benefit Show (hard rock, metal, fusion), Interplay Jazz (simmermusic), Dan Belmont (danbelmontmusic), Friday Night Radio (Country & Western), Four Horsemen (C&W/classic rock), Steve Piper's Roadhouse Blues Band, guitarist John Cantalini (rock/blues) and many others.
Years of private study with first call drummers/educators including jazz drumming legend Alan Dawson, Berklee prof/author Bob Kaufman, Swing & Big Band guru/Hudson Music author Gregory Caputo and others. Have chops as well as a pocket player. Finesse with a strong sense of the tune are my strengths. Being a vocalist myself, I have the sensitivity to support vocalists as well as instrumental soloists in small combo and large band situations.
Interested in gigging/recording with any serious working bands or solo artists - pick-up gigs or more steady work. Jazz, rock, pop, fusion, folk-rock, contemporary alternative, country, funk, etc.
I love ALL great music and love to play in a variety of styles. I take each style I play seriously and use my skills & wide range of tastes to compliment the music I am playing.
Have been singing for over 40 years - performing in public since age 4 from church performances to city choruses. Have provided supporting vox/tight harmonies as well as lead vocals behind the kit in many bands. Also have strong piano/keys/writing skills after 32+ yrs.

First and foremost, my parents, who taught me what music is about and who continue to inspire me!
For drummers, basically, the more melodic as well as pocket players get my attention in jazz, rock or whatever. Saw Han Bennink in concert once (photo included). One of the top drumming thrills of my life! An amazing artist and technician with creativity for miles! Doesn't get any better!
From the classic & prog rock era, I get a charge from Paice, Palmer, Bruford, White, Ehart, Peart, Collins, Steve "Machine Gun" Smith, Moon, Bonham, Mitchell, Densmore, Copeland, Baker, Alex VH, Bev Bevan, etc. Also love jazz greats Alan Dawson (my teacher and jazz mentor), Philly Joe Jones, Elvin, Roy, Paul Wertico, Jack, Erskine, Tony, Cobham, Steve Smith (again), Bill Stewart, Buddy (of course!), Bellson (of course!) and many more. Love the legendary ecclectic players and studio heroes such as Porcaro, Gadd, Simon Phillips, Colaiuta, Ringo, Blaine, Newmark, Keltner, Guerin, Gordon, Kunkel, etc, etc.
Too many great players but I'm inspired and steal a little bit from everything I hear!
Outside of my drumming heroes, I'm inspired by bass players (sorry, no list...but you can probably guess my favorites), great singers, classical instrumental music, classical choral music, jazz in its many incarnations - Pat Metheny is a longtime fav., folk, rock - heavy and otherwise, the outdoors, good writers, great films and so on.
All pro gear of various vintages from a variety of top makers.
Taye Studio Maple, Pearl Masters Custom, Ludwig, Gretsch and Leedy drums
Zildjian, Sabian and UFIP cymbals
I have a variety of gear to suit whatever room and whatever scene...small to large, quiet to LOUD.
Heil vocal and kick mics.
Full PA (when needed)
...and also, Subaru!
