The Hoy Polloy was started by guitarist/engineer Nick Romanelli and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/engineer K Sos sometime in the beginning of 2012. Romanelli provided a solo for a song from K Sos's 2011 solo effort Sciamachy that sparked a creative musical bond between the two. After reworking several of K Sos's older songs, the two began working on a comprehensive list of original material throughout 2012 culminating in the Hoy's debut album "On the Way to Rome" released November 4th 2012. In an attempt to bring this record to the stage the two started rehearsing with multi-instrumentalist Jonathan "Panther" Cordts who would head up the trio's percussion. In March they recruited keyboardist Francisco "The Ferret" Padilla turning the trio into a quad. After a handful of shows throughout the spring and early summer of 2013, Roman left the group mostly based on a desire to continue to perform live. The remaining three quickly begun a search for a replacement as they had been in the midst of writing a half dozen new originals during that time. Craiglist brought them Juan "La Mano" Lamiero who recently relocated to Miami after years on the Puerto Rican touring band circuit. A near perfect fit, by October the band was ready to play shows again, and this time with almost a dozen new songs for crowds. Hitting great Miami spots like Jazid, Churchills, Vagabond, Electric Pickle & The Stage they shot footage for their debut video KING and begun recording the current lineups debut EP "Dancing wtih the Panther" which would be recorded at Cardinal Studios where Roman would engineer the record. The six song EP was released February 6th with a big show at The Stage to mark its birth. The group is currently continuing to fill up their spring/summer schedule with shows, with a follow up music video and a full length LP by the end of the year.
