ABOUT

The Bostyx concert in Matthews last weekend made me realize how much I miss doing this sort of thing. If you were singing along and grinning like an idiot when they got it right, you are the people I want to meet.

Moved here from MI where I fronted and played bass in a garage band. We never actually got around to playing out beyond friends/family/birthdays, but it was a lot of fun.

I have a Plant/Perry/Tyler range in full voice, with some exceptions. I sing with perfect pitch and enjoy nailing the intricacies. I can usually start on the right note without accompaniment. I prefer to sing things the way I remember them rather than 'make it my own' with a few exceptions.

I love harmony, can pick out each part, and would just as well like to sing over someone as do lead. I would rather perfectly pull off one Seven Bridges Road, Helplessly Hoping, or some other four part harmony and have no-one in the place recognize it than do a whole set of crowd-pleasers in mediocrity.

I'm a good screamer, with limits. Rush I can do all night. The high end of Plant, every other song. One or two AC/DC songs is my limit. My country sounds artificial (cause it is!) and I don't want to go there.

I'm a passable bassist for what I know, and I can play a couple on acoustic guitar. I have never taken any sort of instrumental lessons... just picked it up as I went. I have had years of vocal training so I can play by ear, but outside of my previous garage band, I've just never put a whole lot of time into the instrumental side.

I have basically no equipment left beyond my cheap acoustic guitars, electric bass, circa 1992 6 channel mixer board, lots of patch cords, and I've been able to find 2 good enough vocal mics. I don't plan on buying any equipment in the near term as income ~= expenditures currently.

No drugs, no drunks, no drama, and family first (bring your wife/kids if you like). Just out to have some good clean fun and hopefully, lots of grinning like an idiot.

If this sounds like your cup of Earl Grey, respond and let's get rocking.
