ABOUT

Band mix mission statement:

Vision: several years ago I played keys, rhythm guitar, & vocals x 10 years in an Austin-based cover band. After running its course, went on hiatus. Jump to 2 years ago when I had an unexplainable calling like a lightning bolt to obscessively learn and vocalize every song on a particular album by an artist I honestly never really cared for, but once I discovered the genius in every song, I had an epiphany of sorts and ever since felt the need to spread the word and take it public. ‘If you build it, they will come’...and when they do, seeing it played live with accuracy and passion will be an experience of almost being there and one where they’ll feel they got their money’s worth. So.....after 2 years already in the making, of studying and rehearsing the vocals, I’m ready to move forward by selecting the 5-pieces needed to complete the circle. 4 players and myself to learn and nail down with precision a specific well crafted set list of songs by a well known dead artist that will roughly total 3 hours of continous hopefully mind-blowing music. The music is not that difficult to learn, pegging somewhere between mild to moderate on the technical difficulty scale, but playing the parts with discipline & accuracy with very little room for artful interpretation might not be your style. Although I respect and admire the artist, I hate the label ‘Tribute’ (Band) since it has a negative ‘dime-a-dozen/cover band’ connotation. I prefer, rather, to put the focus on the performance, the experience, sort of a rock opera outing that will not only be fun to decode and perform as a musician, but also hopefully enlighten the audience on one of the biggest musical influences in the last 50 years....they just don’t know it yet.
