We are a band from the NYC metro area with many seasoned veteran musicians drawn together by a desire to bring superior songwriting to any venue that appreciates quality entertainment. The members bring experience from all styles and disciplines, and are ready to bring excitement and energy to every show. The name OZone is a play on the scientific term referring to the upper stratospheric layer of gases that protect our earth’s atmosphere. The ‘O’ stands for old, and is a tongue-in-cheek attitude, but the band is still going strong and feeling young, despite the many obstacles and hardships in life the band has gone through individually, and as a whole. The ‘Zone’ is the commercial never-never land that once in-demand young musicians go when they reach that dreaded maturity level. But the band revels in their life experiences, and applies it to their thoughtful and insightful songwriting and lyrics. The OZone floats high on their life experiences, and soars high on to even greater heights. Now, with one of Rick’s ‘old’ band mates – Julio Montenegro/Bass, and two new members – Ken Simpson/Drums and Steve Vincent/Guitar, the band is poised to record and then hit the New York/ New Jersey/ Long Island circuit, and then to wherever ‘the muse’ will take us. Listen and look for us playing out to happy audiences in the NYC area in the years to come. The ‘O’Zone band will make you laugh and think, and enjoy your time with us. We are a true band - all unanimous, and one for all.
