ABOUT

I have been playing fiddle in various styles, rock, jazz, country etc. for around forty plus years. Currently I’m living in Athens , GA playing as a sideman with various local artists as much as the current environment permits. My styles and tastes run from blues to bluegrass, gypsy jazz to Western swing. Prior to moving to Athens I was living in Hong Kong, playing with various local players, including Dave Colquhoun, Michael Pantakoek and the Banyan Bay Ensemble.

I was a member of the Charlotte, NC based Woody and the Stragglers. Along with Woody Mitchell on lead guitar and vocals, Tom Kuhn on bass and vocals, Rob Thorne on drums, John Wicker and Trent Moody we played an eclectic blend of Western Swing, boogie, Latin and some genre bending explorations going from blue grass to jazz to klezmor to ... I have played with the talented singer-songwriter, Darlyne Cain, was a founding member of the world-beat Delancey Street band with Melinda Hansen, Keith Shamel and Bill Buck and Rob Knox. I was part of Kent Steel's foray into country music, Foolproof and have done many studio projects, including two cuts on Bill Noonan's Catawba City CD. Prior to moving to Charlotte, I lived in a little town in Wisconsin, where I had the great pleasure of playing with one of the country's finest unknown (but legendary in Wisconsin) singer-songwriters, Doug Thompson. Although our initial meeting was under dubious circumstances which are detailed on Doug's website, we entered into a long and fruitful musical collaboration. I got my start in Chicago with the Moondogs, Freewheel and the legendary Phlagg Williams.During my time in Chicago I had the opportunity to play behind and record with legendary Country and Chicago Barn Dance stars Bob Atcher and Bonnie Blue Eyes. I also recorded with fiddle legend, Johnny Frigo
