In elementary school, Jeff here was at an impasse given by his parents: to learn either yangqin or piano. Jeff picked the yangqin because he believed and still believes that it's cooler.
He began learning and performing for the Kwong Kow Chinese School's music program taught by Mr. Zhang Zhentian at age 9 and transitioned to the Boston Art School for Chinese Music taught by Ms. Li Ping at age 16. By age 22, Jeff has picked up the yangqin, guzheng, guitar, and bass.
