ABOUT

Attitude = Good.

Sound = Down for whatever pretty much. Prefer a unique and diverse approach to whatever is attempted.

I'M MOSTLY INTERESTED IN PLAYING * DRUMS *, but would also like to be one of the songwriters. Have tons of songs, some utilized in previous projects, some not. Either way, they would all be available to us.

In a tight spot, would consider being the vocalist (could then also play guitar I guess).

Some (much more yet to be posted) of my past electronic and live music can be found on my Yootoob channel: yootoob dot com/JaeSenji

Influences

All (generally) 1980s rock, pop, new wave, punk rock, hip-hop, r-n-b. Was a break dancer / popper / DJ / beat boxer / producer in the early '80s.

Around '86, I miraculously transformed into a full-on punk rock skateboarder (mohawk, combat boots, the works). This was the start of my learning instruments and playing in live bands. Was usually the guitarist/vocalist/songwriter (almost always in a 3-piece band), but played drums in a couple bands as well. Favorite band was the Dead Kennedys. Was also into Black Flag, DOA, The Circle Jerks, Husker Du, Minor Threat, and the like. Eventually took interest in other '80s genres/bands such as REM, The Cure, Dinosaur Jr, Jane's Addiction, Metallica, Devo, The Violent Femmes to name a few.

Upon the 90s, the usual suspects could be added to that list such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine, Radiohead, Primus, etc. My former / "main" band, FULFLEJ (a 3-piece band for which I played guitar and sang), was together for 8 years and was signed to James Iha's and D'arcy's (of the Smashing Pumpkins) record label, Scratchie Records. Opened for the Pumpkins twice at the start of their 1997 tour. Toured with Better Than Ezra for the entirety of their U.S. East Coast tour in 1996. Played South By Southwest and CMJ music festivals. Had a video on MTV for song "Work In This Universe", snippets of which were included in a couple of MTV shows as well. Was also played on the radio for a bit. Wrote and recorded the theme song for the 2nd Power Rangers movie, Power Rangers Turbo.

Also got way into EDM (as a listener and producer) in the early 90s, mainly “jungle” which eventually transformed into drum-n-bass (was a jungle DJ before it became d-n-b). Once dub step emerged from 2-step garage in the early 2000s, got way into that along with drum step (an off-shoot of d-n-b). Love all that gritty EDM! Like ambient stuff as well. Have also produced and composed several hip-hop and r-n-b projects over the years.

Working my way thru the 90s, the 2000s, and on up to the present, there are simply way too many admired artists / genres / energies for me too list - my Spotify library exploded a long time ago. All forms of “alternative” rock (heavy guitar, clean guitar, shoe-gazer, folksy, dark, fun, dance-able, whatever), hip-hop, black metal, r-n-b, pop, death metal, vocal and instrumental EDM, and most everything in between...!
