ABOUT

Looking to play bass/6 string guitar (either rhythm or lead) in a rock n roll\indie or funk band. I have been playing bass guitar for 16 years and electric guitar for 12 years. I started playing in bands when I was 12 and have experience playing a number of styles/genres (e.g. rock, metal, funk, jazz, classical). My focus was primarily on original material (I have also composed although this is not my strong suit), but I have experience playing covers as well (e.g. as part of a cover band or mixed in with original sets). Most notably I played bass for a rock n roll band called "Tokyo Corner" for 7 years, writing our own music, touring our music round the UK (e.g. The Cockpit (Leeds) and Live at Leeds festival) and recording a number of e.p's along the way (I have much studio experience). I also acheived a Grade 8 music performance certificate (the highest grade in the UK) for bass guitar when I was 18. Tokyo Corner split late 2015 and since then I haven't had any gigging experience (except open mike nights), just to be up front (i.e. I may be a little rusty gigwise). I still practice regularly by myself however.

Influences

My biggest influences growing up were The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, and I quickly got into playing slap bass and finger style rock bass (I can also use a plectrum). Later my tastes turned to metal (e.g. Metallica, Dream Theater) and then to classic rock n roll (e.g. The Who, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin). I'd ideally like to continue in the classic rock\indie style and would also be open to funk infuences, allowing me to use the slap bass style which I enjoy.

EQUIPMENT

I have my bass and 6 string with me in the states (an American Fender Jazz and Ibanez Jem). However my amps and cabs are still back in the UK (I'm using smaller, non-gigging standard amps to practice with currently). So initially for auditions I would either need to hire or use the bands equipment (if this were possible). If all goes well then I plan to buy some of my own amps/cabs for use here in the states. I don't have a car or access to any suitable rehearsal space currently.
