Hello, My name is Jim Shomer. I am a bass guitarist and composer. I have a degree in composition but I am a self taught bass guitarist and songwriter. I am currently looking to join projects that are doing mostly original material or to collaborate with some people on starting a project/group.

Influences
Mainly I listen to jazz artist such as Miles Davis, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Tim Berne, Dave Douglas, Ornette Coleman, Chris Potter's Underground, Kneebody, Snarky Puppy, Now vs Now, Electric Epic, etc... but I am more of a rock and r&b player. My influences other than listening to lots of jazz include, The Beatles, Hendrix, James Brown, Peter Gabriel, Sting, Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Jamiroquai, and many more.

EQUIPMENT
My main instrument is a 5 string bass guitar strung with a high "C" instead of a low "B" string. I use various amps and cabs along with a few effect pedals.
