JANET CHANDLER:
Currently I am the lead singer for the R&B/Jazz band, GRUV FUSION. Gruv Fusion was formed in 2012. Based in Hollywood Ca. the members are; Jan Chandler & Dru-Luv (vocalist), Tony Usher (Bass), Wayne Benford(Drums) & Kenny Terry (Keyboard). The band has performed at the House Of Blues, Voodoo Lounge , Nola's, Molly Malone's, Brew Dog Pub, Salvage & The Leimert Park Jazz Festival & Juneteenth Celebration. Gruv Fusions sound is very unique for they do a wide range of cover songs with simple original arrangements which makes the song their own!! R&B, Jazz, Pop, Funk, Blues & Gospel is what you can expect to hear from this group!! Born in Mississippi I was introduced to music at an early age by listening to my family sing and play in church.
By the age of ten, I was singing and no longer a spectator. In high school, I was a member of the band, choir, and drama group. I attended college at Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi. I was a member of the JSU Opera Troop where I performed in the operas "Carmen" and "Madame Butterfly". I was also a member of the JSU R&B/Jazz Band where I was a featured vocalist. Even though opera gave me the ultimate vocal training, my true love is R&B. I am a singer/songwriter with my own cd, which I co-produced. I have worked work numerous producers in California, Tennessee, and Mississippi providing songwriting and background vocals. I have performed in numerous venues in Southern California. I have a wide range vocally. My vocal range is Second Alto to First Soprano.
