SANTANA TRIBUTE BAND - FORMING IN NOVEMBER - ALL INTERESTED PLEASE CONTACT ME. FULL SHOW BAND!
NEEDED: All except guitar!
Lead Vocals, conguero, timbalero, keys, bass, drums. All must be familar with Santana repertoire and/or be a pro who learns fast. Vocals are a major priority - background singing is a must. All must be pros willing to rehearse to top level performance before playing out for this major project, have a mature attitude and be in it for the fun as well as the money, because you love the music. There will be "rehearsal gigs" at local clubs, at first, to tighten up for the hotels, and parties. Playing Santana's great music is more fun when it's cookin' than you can get from ordinary music, or ordinary life! This will be a fully improvisational band, like Santana's band; not just a copy band. But you will have to play important melodies properly, especially intros and memorable melodies, breaks, and solos. I can play all parts note for note, then I blow! You will too!
We will also do selected other music from Stevie Wonder to Bill Withers, and even Jimi Hendrix, when appropriate, to break it up, and surprise people. There is flexibility.
The future also entails original music! No sense putting a great band to waste!
All professionals will be considered even if they haven't played Santana before. But you must have a good R&B/Funk background, and be rhythmically solid on your ax, and have a good ear! Latin rhythms can be difficult if you are unfamiliar. Tunes like "Guajira" and "Dance Sister Dance" and "Love of My Life," are not as easy as they may sound, especially if you haven't played latin music. No compromises will be made concerning the music. This band will be as good as the original to the average listener, and to the professional listener, and we will "get off" every time we play!
THE REPERTOIRE WILL CONSIST OF GREAT CLASSIC SANTANA UP TO CURRENT HITS; WITH MANY TUNES FROM "SUPERNATURAL" & "SACRED FIRE!"
