1960s New Orleans based Retro Soul Band seeking great Horns and Keyboards.

New, top shelf Good Time Music band forming presently with venue(s) secured for a great start once we find our Keys Wiz and get rolling. Talking about having a New Orleans food and music theme for shows too... We also have a connection in a great, historical room with fantastic acoustics that has been hosting some great acts, especially with horns since they sound so good in there. Anyway, first manner of business will be a paid recording session, possibly live, at this location. Four or five very solid Originals and a handful of covers. We'll be recording video as well for some good promo material to start out with. If the right person might be hesitant to buy before you try, the gig would be a good way to feel out what we are all about and see if it's something you'll wanna be an integral part of. The concept with this band is to have the riffs carried by the horns and or keyboards and bass with no guitar... Lots of solos... Hot, funky, NOLA horn parts. The ultimate lineup for big shows, which is what we are going for in time, would be bass, drums, keys, lead singer, 2 (or 3) female harmony Soul singers, and the horn section. At a minimum we want two horns for any gig, whatever size. Badass tenor sax a must. Then at least trumpet or barry sax, then bass trombone. A great trombone player who also plays tuba would be a ringer. We are not going for the New Orleans clarinet sound. More the heart and soul stuff and a good dose of Funky stuff...

We are looking to catch some ears playing some of the best Soul that ever went down in the 1960s, New Orleans Soul, mixed with some other NOLA sounds and some surprise Classic Rock songs revisioned with NOLA horns and keys ..

We have great options for slots in the band once we have the right keys on board. Big Ray Charles and Dr John (esp Gumbo) influence in both the covers and songwriting... So obviously we need a special Keys Mofo...

We are into the "All For One, One For All" band philosophy, and want dedicated members ultimately, not just revolving hired guns... But for now we know enough great ones to plug with until we are cemented as a group...

Singer/Songwriter is a raspy low end voiced (with some high end too) belter with a Ray Charles scream. Big vocal influences also from Dr John, James Carr, Lee Moses, Lee Dorsey, Curley Moore, Peter Wolf, Billy Gibbons, Van Morrison, Bob Seger, and Prince. Very dedicated to serving the Audience and the Music and giving the People a night out that feels like a portal straight to a bar somewhere off of Bourbon St.

We don't expect to rehearse extensively but we have a great spot in Waltham when necessary, and to start out with before the recording gig...
