ABOUT

I would like to join or form a small group that can get together about once a week, maximum 3 times a week, for practice, writing lyrics and music, jamming, recording, knowledge-sharing, gigs, etc. I'm looking to collaborate and broaden my musical horizons. Any evening, from 5:30PM or later, on Mondays - Fridays, or any time Saturday and Sunday are good times for me.

I'm 31, no kids, 8AM - 5PM day job Monday - Friday. I have a wonderful girlfriend (Who plays some Alto Sax) who's Dad is a musician, and so she is supportive of my musical pursuits and the time that takes up. To make it worth all of our time, and to be productive, I am hoping for a couple hours or more per session.

I do some moderate drinking, but I am a non-smoker, however I can tolerate being around smoke, and I don't judge those who supported Colorado's recent decriminalizing of certain herbs, though I haven't smoked myself in many years. Bottom line, I like to unwind and have a good time, but I'm not looking for a group of people to get wasted with, and I have zero desire to try to collaborate with anyone who is currently addicted to "hard" drugs.

If all this sounds like it is up your alley, then what are you waiting for? Let's jam! (ESPECIALLY if you have space for a band practice to be set up, and/or speakers for my powered mixer/PA, or your own PA system) I unfortunately do NOT have a practice space suited for a band and all the gear which that entails.

Influences

Too many to list, too many genres. As we're in Oklahoma, I'll submit Leon Russell, The Flaming Lips, and Woody Guthrie, but I love literally ALL genres, including all forms of Rock, Blues, Folk, Country, Funk, Jazz, Bluegrass, Celtic, electronic, acoustic/unplugged, Metal, Hip Hop/Rap, Salsa, R & B, Punk, Reggae, North, South, East, West, any continent of origin or language. For those who simply MUST see a long list of influential bands in no particular order, here you go:
Rolling Stones, Beatles, U2, Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters, BB King, Robert Johnson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Patsy Cline, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Woody Guthry, Arlo Guthrie, Janis Joplin, Jimmie Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Niel Young, The Eagles, CCR, The Doors, The Animals, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Etta Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, John Lee Hooker, Otis Redding, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodmin, George Gershwin, Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, Bach, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Don Mclean, Hank Williams, The Bloodhound Gang, David Allen Coe, Merl Haggard, George Straight, Grateful Dead, George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelics, Morman Tabernacle Choir, My life with the thrill kill kult, NIN (Trent Reznor), Guns and Roses, Soul Asylum, Sound Garden, REM, Blind Melon, Live, Hootie and the Blowfish, Dave Mathews, John Mayor, Dr. Dre, Ice Tea, Ice Cube, Snoop Dzizzle, Marshall Mathers (eminem), Ravi Shankar, Norah Jones, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order, Madonna, Blondie, Queen, ............this could go on forever, so I'm going to stop now.
