'Be Blues' by Sun TantricKThe 3rd version of this song released on Soundcloud, Jesse Guten's band Sun TantricK performs it in the best form yet. Recorded in a professional studio for the band's upcoming release, This version features Dan Gaudynski on the upright bass, some delicate improvisation on tenor saxophone by Andrew Stoiber and Michael Ekvall's nuanced drumming. Jesse Guten's guitar and vocals shine through to make this original speak to the depths of the soul - don't just sing it, don't just feel it - BE blues.
Abigail YaA better version of the song in progress I posted recently, which ive taken down. here is a version with all the parts and lyrics (which are still in the works) this one is all me. hope you like, soon to be heard by my band the FlyBi Knights :) all tracks written, performed and recorded by Jesse Guten at PressPlay MKE studios.
From the Ashes (sample)sample of an original song "From the Ashes" by Jesse Guten. All tracks composed, written and recorded by Jesse Guten. saxophone performed by Andrew Stoiber. All vocals and other instruments performed by Jesse Guten.
Chasing Jason (What's a Boy to do?)An original song in the works for some time now. the vocals need work, drums as well. I also would like to add a horn section. But this is an example of my more current art-pop songwriting compared with what I usually share on soundcloud.
all tracks written and recorded by Jesse Guten at PressPlay MKE studios
organic dubstep bowser experimenti wanted to try to simulate dubstep using all organic instruments, so i rigged a bass and keys to a wah pedal. doesn't get the depth of bassnectar of course, but its all organic - aside from the electronic drumset of course; however i did play it with sticks and no samples. i'd love to hear this mixed by a dj who knows what they're doing. i may add vocals, flute, strings or some beat boxing. we shall see
TapRoot - 9 year (a work in progress)this is just an acoustic guitar line i been messing w, laid down a track, added a few more and boom, its the beginning a song. this song i dedicated to 9 years of partnership with Brittany Anne.
Hotel Party (Sparrow Song) sample cutAn original tune developed with my former band the Roadless Travelers which we never had the oppurtunity to record or polish. So I figured I'd bring it back and do it the way I always wanted to hear it. a work in progress, still needs keys on the rest of the track and a final verse. This song was inspired by an old friend who was inspired by love and romance and was in love, at least for a week or 2, with a girl named Sparrow
RandomJam w/Koyne McKeowna jam that started with my good buddy Koyne McKeown rockin' them drums and me on bass. then added some other stuff and a little vocal harmony out of a random poem i dug out of 1 of my old notebooks
Drifters Lament w/ drumssame track as original Drifters Lament, only with an added drum track that i did at home using an electronic kit - a convenient way to record late at night! soon i will be bringing actual drummers onto my tracks
Lonely to Fly (rough draft)Drums are not finished! i need an electric kit or someone who knows how to use abelton or Reason.. this is a hip hop/r&b/pop tune i wrote a while back and am looking for the right female voice to do the high harmony. It is a 1st take and the drums are played on a keyboard (don't have a DAW yet) so there's a few flubs but fun to play with the ideas.
FriendsForever (sample)this is the 3rd version of this song i've posted, its one of my favorites and based on a poem i wrote some time ago. i think it started out too slow for some people to get to the best part where i layered vocal harmonies over synth and tube-vibrato guitar lines. so here's a shortened version fo you all to enjoy! opening with a flute solo by Brittany Ann
Shy Covers (sample)an original piece with a haunting intro that stems from a couple of poems, the main line namely being taken from one of Brittany Ann's that inspired the rest of it. also including an instrumental section soon to be performed by a strings section
Easy Prey (sample cut)a portion of a new song i'm working with some weird time signatures. this is just a short sample, from my home studio with myself on every track, soon to be improved and performed with a group of great Milwaukee musicians
Waiting in the Dark demoan original song composed, performed and recorded by Jesse Guten. All vocals and instruments played by Jesse Guten. The full length version will be on upcoming album with accompaniment. A true love story. there is one more verse, wait for the release to hear how the story ends
Madtown BluesOne of the oldest originals that I've played with various bands. A basic country blues progression with a little something in the turnaround. About singing and drinking on State Street in Madison, WI. All tracks written and recorded by Jesse Guten except for drums - played by Michael Ekvall. PressPlay MKE studio.
Leavin' TownA poetic song about leaving town. Americana country-rock roots music - all tracks written, recorded and produced by Jesse Guten. Lyrics written by Jesse Guten. PressPlay Milwakee Performance Design
You're ExcusedCountry-blues at its core, this song portrays the oft-told story of a broken heart quickly mended and the lessons learned but rarely followed. The layered telecaster licks give this an authentic country feel but with classic rock dynamics that get the hips involved with the upbeat foot-tappin' rhythm.
Song written by Jesse Guten, all tracks sung and played by Jesse. This is a home studio recording Currently performed by his band DiaTribe, and soon to be updated with a full band studio recording
