ABOUT

I'm an experienced guitar player and singer. I'm looking to complete a new band of good players, for blues-based classic rock, psychedelic soul, and a little reggae.

Formula for the band would not be unlike "Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers," in terms of there being two guitars, a bass, keyboards, & some "tight, no-frills" drumming, but also a band that covers quite a few of the many TPATH songs (particularly some great "B-sides" that never got the "air time" they deserved back in the day). But this would be a band not limited to just TPATH music. I play and sing covers by other artists, such as those Influences listed in my Profile below. I'm talking nothing but the coolest songs being covered, and possibly some originals as well (I've written a few good ones).

Lately, I've been asked to join other established bands (looking for a lead guitar and/or singer), but I've not been willing to commit to playing a genre of music I'm not all that into. So I'm trying to establish a new band here, based in large part on the ton of songs that I currently am singing well and can play both lead and rhythm guitar parts to.

My band vision is primarily inspired by the songs and also the "song-structure" of TPATH. This structure is a song consisting typically of: two verses with a great chorus, followed by a "bridge" or "break," followed by a guitar or keyboard solo, followed by a third verse/chorus, and then often ending with good jamming and tasteful soloing. And as such, this band should have a TPATH- inspired name. Many good one's already having been taken by bands from California to Florida (ie: Refugee, The Waiting, Damn the Torpedoes, etc, etc), my original idea would be the "Blue-Bellied Devils" band. "BBD" would represent a northern Yankees' take on that great southern and Californian soundtrack, mixed-in with some British psychedelic soul, some blues-based rock, and some reggae.

So who wants in? I'm looking for both comparable musical interests, and comparable talent, to my own.

Those interested should contact me via this site, or 4jimlutz on my account.
