ABOUT

I'm an experienced tenor sax player, have played with jazz big bands and small combos, blues bands, toured and recorded with a retro swing band. I can read charts, play in a section, and solo over changes. I've also played guitar since high school and performed in blues and alternative rock bands. I'm most interested in getting together a small group to play jazz funk, but I am open to a wide range of possibilities.

Influences

As a saxophonist, I'm inspired by all of the great players, from John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins to Michael Brecker and Donny McCaslin. As a guitarist, I am most influenced by blues-based rockers, from Duane Allman to Jack White. In general, I'm most inspired by musicians who want to push boundaries and create something new rather than just recreating the past. I love jazz, funk, soul, and rock more or less equally, and I love to play music that draws upon all of those genres.
