ABOUT

Greetings,

I am Jody Cooper, a lifelong musician. I enjoy and appreciate all genre’s of music. I joined the elementary school marching band at the age of 7, and began playing the drums “live” in church at the age of 8. I come from a very talented family tree of musicians. My younger sister Jill Cooper, mastered and teaches the“Suzuki” method on violin My mother Pat Cooper, has recorded several albums with Mr. Eddie Crook located in Nashville. At the age of 15, I played the bass guitar on my first studio recording with the amazing talented Mr. Mike Headrick. s://.google/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CB4QFjAA&url=%3A%2F%2F.mikeheadrick%2F&ei=pp-aVdfiGonEsAW69r74Cw&usg=AFQjCNHSdWzRO8ru03FfAUeSZW4ojW938A&sig2=1eJIIT5XZkzRRHo23lxuFQ
I grew up being exposed heavily to country gospel and bluegrass, and began to master this style at a very early age. However, as I grew older, my desire to expand on different genres grew fiercely stronger. For the past 15 years, I have been playing very diverse genres such as contemporary christian, rock, heavy metal, cantatas, and large orchestrated pieces. When performing contemporary christian, rock, country, or other “band” type styles; I prefer using chord charts. However, when performing with an orchestra, I prefer using the entire sheet music arrangement. I am also a very firm believer in using "rests", “cadence”, “allegro”, “dynamics” “crescendo”, "breaks", and "good taste" to sound as smooth as possible while allowing better blending with the other musicians. Through my years of experience, I have learned that sometimes less is definitely more. I have enjoyed playing the bass and drums at several very large churches, special events, and studio recordings. I consider myself to be EXTREMELY VERSATILE and very ACCOMPANYING, while always STRIVING to stay on the right tempo. I am very accommodating to new genre styles, and "ALWAYS" willing to learn more! I plan to continue to learn more about music and life, till this life is over. Currently, I am a full-time Nursing student at Chattanooga State, supplementing my income through music, brick, block, and stone masonry. My main instrument is the bass guitar, however with a little practice on the drums, I can play very professionally as well. I also have no problems with laying down the root chords on the keyboard for a good pad, or with adequate time to practice the song, a little more..

HISTORY:

2003-2010:
Main Bass guitar player at Westwood Baptist Church, the choir and orchestra located in Cleveland, TN. I also played the drums here from time to time. At Westwood, I was introduced to the very talented conductor, Mr. Don Nichols. I also got the honor to play alongside a very talented and amazing orchestra leader, lifetime piano musician, and highly intelligent professor of music, Mr. Jack Clark.

2011-2012:
Main bass guitar player at Silverdale Baptist Church located in Ooltewah, TN: "The Pit". Here I played alongside some very talented musicians and vocalists. These included keyboardist Stephen King or “Jump Keys” and also the very talented worship leader and song recording artist: Anthony Massotti.

2013-Currently:
