ABOUT

Anyone interested in starting a Muse cover band?

C'mon, who's out there?

Looking to get together, once a week or so, learn a dozen or so Muse tunes, plus a few other bands, a few originals - mostly for fun.

(I'm in Escondido.)

Some other bands I listen to and/or know covers from:
Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Gin Blossoms, The Refreshments, Neon Trees, Jimmy Eat World, etc., as well as finish as few originals I've had lying around, unfinished, for years now.

I started out playing guitar with a few prep school buddies. After graduating from college, a few friends and I formed what would eventually become Tango36, though I quickly switched to bass guitar. We played some great gigs, even opening up for Aterciopelados.

Now, I'm in my 50s, and I've switched back to guitar. I've actually been playing in a band for the past 2-3 years and played a few public gigs, before COVID shut everything down.

That band only practices once every few months and I'd like to play a bit more regularly than that. My time isn't unlimited, but I work as an advertising creative, which leaves my evenings and weekends mostly free.

I'd really like to put a band together to play a bit more regularly and even play out, once in a while. I've even gotten into designing and building guitars a bit (I'm at a novice level).

I'm looking for an additional guitarist (can also play lead, but not a must), bass guitarist, keyboard player and drummer to get together, regularly, have a beer or two, chit chat about our favorite bands/songs/growing up in Miami (I was born and raised here) and play a few songs.

The most important component here is that it HAS to be fun, for everyone. I'm not looking to gig every single weekend. I make a good living at my job, plus I enjoy my free time to engage in my other hobbies (ex. - the aforementioned guitar designing/building, surf photography, etc.).

I have a few guitars (Fender, Gibson, Harley Benton, 2 customs, etc.), 2 amps and a Line6 Pod Go.

Any questions, feel free to text me at 858.7O7.5212 (Back in San Diego.)

Thanks!

Influences

It's NOT what I play, these days, but I LOVED listening to 80s metal (Quiet Riot, Scorpions, Ozzy, Dokken, Ratt, Queensryche, etc.).

I still, to this day, love Pat Metheny and have even started looking into taking an intro jazz-guitar class.

But my all-time favorite band is Rush. Each one of those 3 musicians is my favorite at their craft.

Still, I can greatly appreciate what Tim Henson/Polyphia and groups like The Omnific are doing, these days - even if I can't even BEGIN to play like that.
