ABOUT

I (77) was (33) intending on pursuing a career in music, but (96) decided REAL LIFE was more important, (92) and that (51) I would pursue a REAL career instead...
Years later I was so damn depressed that I could hardly stand myself anymore. I find myself driving down the highway without ANY MUSIC playing and wondered, "what the hell happened to me?!" So I decided to change that. Music is the only thing that truly makes me happy, and I happen to be gifted in it.
I like almost any kind of music (except country and rap-ish music...and I don't get into raves either, though electronic music cam be just as good as any), and can play almost any kind of music. Started with jazz/classical trumpet, expanded into rock/jazz/prog (?) Guitar, also play piano a little and sometimes my voice is pretty good, but I've never trained it intensively. I just sing as is and it turns out well I've heard!
Anyway, the stage I'm at is ready to get music back into my life full-time. Work and money happen; music I'm pursuing. I could do a start up or join am existing band to cover guitar and/or vocals. I can play parts on keys or brass if necessary, too. Go ahead and contact me at 773 three six 92 five 1 if you are interested. I see other people doing that with digits so I figure I ought to as well.

Find my number and text me if interested...

Influences

I remember falling in love with Zappa at the age of five because of my father. I started digging through his extensive vinyl collection which contained anything from Beethoven to Bowie to Beatles to Roxy Music to Talking Heads to Zappa.

I've since expanded and refined my taste, which includes almost anything GOOD. I love combining world styles (Afro Celt Sound System is pretty neat), and experimenting with instrumentation. But I also have the regular rock/alternative stuff from when I was growing up, like STP (I thought about auditioning to be their new singer actually, but they put a deadline on it before I was ready!) , yet I have a deep appreciation for Steely Dan and Supertramp. So...yeah, I like music.

If I were to play in a band that was "perfect" for me it would be 4-5 piece (room for an extra guitar or keyboard), playing a range of music incorporating rock with flavor. Whether jazz or world music or whatever, I wouldn't be completely satisfied just playing rock. But I suppose that would be the backbone to it. Kinda like STP; their varied sound and styling is basically exactly what I like most. They are my favorite band I guess.
