I'm a versatile drummer and sound tech with a wide range of influences. My playing incorporates elements of prog rock, metal, blues, funk and rock.
I believe the most important thing a drummer can do, besides playing their ass off, is to control their volume. The dynamics suffer dramatically when a drummer is incapable of playing at soft and medium volumes.
As a sound designer and music producer I like to incorporate sequences, samples and other orchestrations into the performance. I want to work with musicians who are innovative with technology without that technology becoming a crutch.
I can handle most the tech necessary to mix a band's stage sound. With the wide variety of software kits available there's absolutely no need for microphones on the drums. No mics = better sound. I believe the only open mics onstage should be vocals, acoustic percussion and backing vocals. Feedback should NEVER happen in a pro band: if you cannot control the squeal I don't want to play in your band.
